{"id":2630,"date":"2025-08-15T17:04:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T17:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=2630"},"modified":"2025-08-15T17:04:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T17:04:08","slug":"calls-for-italian-style-investor-visa-in-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=2630","title":{"rendered":"Calls for Italian-style \u2018investor visa\u2019 in UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CEO of an organisation representing individual investors, advisers and businesses has called for an Italian-style flat tax for investors.<\/p>\n<p>Leslie McLeod-Miller warned about changes to the non-dom tax regime, which is being altered so wealthy individuals have to pay UK tax on overseas wealth.<\/p>\n<p>McLeod-Miller said: \u201cIf you look internationally, what are governments doing?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey know they need to drive growth in their countries and so they are saying \u2018come to me, come to me,\u2019 which is what Trump did with his golden visa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall, people would be prepared to pay a premium for staying in the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Office for Budget Responsibility has warned that \u201cmigration is assumed to be a significant behavioural response for non-domiciled taxpayers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Reform Party has touted the idea of a Britannia Card, with a one-off payment of \u00a3250,000.<\/p>\n<p>McLeod-Miller warned: \u201cIf more people leave, the only thing left for the government to tax will be ordinary working people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Separate speculation around a wealth tax is also spooking investors.<\/p>\n<p>McLeod-Miller said: \u201cWe are urging the Chancellor to confirm there will not be a wealth tax. So far, she has refrained from doing so but that is a dangerous thing.
