{"id":4745,"date":"2025-10-21T05:05:54","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T05:05:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=4745"},"modified":"2025-10-21T05:05:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T05:05:54","slug":"landlord-scheme-launched-in-scunthorpe-after-false-start","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=4745","title":{"rendered":"Landlord scheme launched in Scunthorpe after false start"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A selective licensing scheme in Scunthorpe has launched following a failed landlord challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Landlords in the Crosby &#038; Park and Town wards must now have a license to rent their properties, costing a total of \u00a3995 over a course of five years.<\/p>\n<p>The unveiling of the scheme hasn\u2019t been smooth, as it was originally due to launch on 20 March but was delayed after the Crosby Landlords\u2019 Association challenged the cost of such a scheme.<\/p>\n<p>It will run until March 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: \u201cThis is about raising the quality of housing and the quality of life for residents \u2013 things that matter in every community across North Lincolnshire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToo often, poor standards and neglect have gone hand in hand with anti-social behaviour and a loss of pride in communities. That changes today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vast number landlords who do the right thing have nothing to worry about \u2013 they help drive up standards and support better, stronger neighbourhoods. But those who ignore their responsibilities will be held to account.
