{"id":478,"date":"2025-05-29T01:06:22","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T01:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=478"},"modified":"2025-05-29T01:06:22","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T01:06:22","slug":"goodlord-alters-insurance-policies-to-reflect-renters-rights-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=478","title":{"rendered":"Goodlord alters insurance policies to reflect Renters\u2019 Rights Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Letting platform Goodlord has updated its Rent Protection and Legal Expense Insurance product, which it said it designed to help agents and landlords prepare for the Renters\u2019 Rights Bill.<\/p>\n<p>From the start of June Goodlord and Vouch products will introduce a new level of cover which can be accessed if a tenant disputes a valid Section 13 rent increase.<\/p>\n<p>Property damage cover is being increased and will now cover any damage up to \u00a31,000, four times higher than previous amount.<\/p>\n<p>Alternative accommodation costs are being tripled, with up to \u00a3175 per night for up to three months. Storage costs of up to \u00a315 per day will also be covered for up to three months<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the first month\u2019s rent is guaranteed, if a tenancy agreement is signed but the first month\u2019s rent is not paid.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Oli Sherlock <em>(pictured)<\/em>, managing director of insurance at Goodlord, said: \u201cAs the industry prepares for significant changes under the Renters\u2019 Rights Bill, it\u2019s clear that the risk profile of lettings is shifting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recognise that plenty of suppliers are saying they are \u201cRenters\u2019 Rights ready\u201d but in truth very little has been delivered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been working behind the scenes to ensure our insurance product evolves in lockstep with those changes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese unique insurance enhancements are designed to offer greater peace of mind and practical support to landlords and agents at a time of peak uncertainty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Letting platform Goodlord has updated its Rent Protection and Legal Expense Insurance product, which it said it designed to help agents and landlords prepare for the Renters\u2019 Rights Bill.
