{"id":5684,"date":"2025-11-20T12:02:29","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T12:02:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=5684"},"modified":"2025-11-20T12:02:29","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T12:02:29","slug":"one-in-five-waiting-for-budget-before-making-housing-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=5684","title":{"rendered":"One in five waiting for Budget before making housing plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly one in five (17%) movers have paused their plans due to uncertainty about changes to property taxes in the upcoming Budget on November 26, Rightmove research shows.<\/p>\n<p>The majority (61%) are aware of rumoured property tax changes, and nearly three quarters (72%) of this group said they were concerned about them.<\/p>\n<p>Those aged 55 and over were most likely to say they were concerned (81%), perhaps unsurprising given the majority of rumoured tax reforms have so far targeted homes at the upper end of the market.<\/p>\n<p>Colleen Babcock, Rightmove\u2019s property expert said, \u201cOur latest House Price Index showed how market activity is being affected by the various property tax rumours being discussed ahead of the Budget.<\/p>\n<p><!--   \t\t  \t\t\t \t\t\t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(\"div-gpt-ad-1715620536068-0\"); }); \t\t\t  \t\t  \t -->  \t <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, we\u2019ve heard directly from home-movers about how it\u2019s denting their confidence, with some preferring to wait until after the Budget to see how any policy announcements affect their plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile most movers are carrying on as normal, it demonstrates how unhelpful the uncertainty over potentially costly changes can be.
