London is the cheapest city in the UK for outdoor home improvements in 2026, based on gross disposable income, a study from global construction firm BOLEO has found.<\/p>\n
Londoners spend a significantly smaller share of their income on outdoor upgrades compared with every other major UK city, at 5.32% of annual income.<\/p>\n
After that the most affordable areas are Edinburgh and Bristol.<\/p>\n
On the other end of the spectrum Nottingham is the most expensive major UK city, where patio and driveway costs take the largest share of income.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s also particularly costly in Leicester, Hull and Stoke-on-Trent.<\/p>\n
Kevin Xing, product manager at BOLEO, said: \u201cIncome differences across UK cities have created a split in how affordable outdoor projects feel.<\/p>\n
\u201cA garden upgrade can be a manageable improvement in London, but a much higher cost in places where wages are lower.<\/p>\n
