{"id":624,"date":"2025-06-12T12:23:13","date_gmt":"2025-06-12T12:23:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=624"},"modified":"2025-06-12T12:23:13","modified_gmt":"2025-06-12T12:23:13","slug":"industry-welcomes-spending-review-apart-from-nrla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/second-home.uk\/?p=624","title":{"rendered":"Industry welcomes Spending Review, apart from NRLA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Much of the property industry has responded positively to the Chancellor\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propertywire.com\/news\/major-housing-commitments-announced-in-spending-review\/\" target=\"_blank\">Spending Review<\/a>, with the exception of the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA).<\/p>\n<p>Rachel Reeves committed to investing \u00a339bn in social and affordable housing; as well as \u00a313.2bn over the next five years for the government\u2019s Warm Homes Plan, a fund designed to install insulation, heat pumps and solar panels.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Hutchinson, director at flatshare site SpareRoom, welcomed the announcement, saying: \u201cThis spending commitment should mean a gradual reduction in the amount spent on housing benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Rob Barnard, intermediary sales director at lender Pepper Money, said: \u201cThis spending is much needed to boost housebuilding and unlock the ambition of homeownership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NRLA however raised frustration at the Spending Review.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Its chief executive, Ben Beadle <em>(pictured)<\/em>, said: \u201cToday\u2019s spending review does nothing to tackle the immediate pressures in the private rented market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does nothing to support the delivery of the one million new private rented homes needed by 2031 to meet growing demand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does nothing to support and encourage investments in energy efficiency works to rental properties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it does nothing to support all those renters struggling to find a home as a result of the government\u2019s freeze on housing benefit rates.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Much of the property industry has responded positively to the Chancellor\u2019s Spending Review, with the exception of the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA).
